3 Reasons Why You Should Start Journaling

Journaling has always been a form of therapy for me. By writing things down, I have been able to reflect on what is going on in my brain at the time. Inspiration strikes at random times, so it is important to write things down before that inspiration is lost forever. Here are 3 reasons why you should pick up a pen and start writing today!

Self-Improvement

Have you been feeling stuck in a certain aspect of your life? Unhappy with your job, or the way a relationship is going? Keep track of what is going on in your life in ink. Then, you can go back and recap these events, giving you a chance to pick up on patterns. You can’t change people or situations but you can change yourself. Journaling gives you the opportunity to pick up on certain quirks that may need adjusting in order to get you to where you want to be.

Stress Relief

When I write something down, I feel like the thought is solidified. Getting it down on paper gets it out of my head. This is especially effective when you have strong feelings towards a person or situation— whether they be positive or negative. Write your thoughts and feelings down, this way, you can figure out how to react to them in a calm, efficient and effective way.

Memories

An event like a big trip or major life change is a great time to start journaling, however, you are making memories every single day. The pages of my journal are flooded with random things that I have seen or experienced, that I never want to forget. I will have these memories for the rest of my life, which I feel, dig deeper into the experience than a photograph ever could.
